You’ve got a beautiful outdoor space. But between the relentless Texas sun and unpredictable storms, it sits empty most of the year.
An automated retractable pergola changes that. You get full control over how much sun, shade, or airflow reaches your patio. When the temperature spikes to triple digits, close the louvers and create instant relief. When a storm rolls in, the system can sense it and close automatically before the first drop hits.
This isn’t about adding another structure to your yard. It’s about making your outdoor living area as comfortable and usable as any room inside your home. You can host dinner in July without everyone sweating through their shirts. You can sit outside in February without fighting the wind.
The result is simple: more time outside, less time checking the weather app.
We’ve been building outdoor living spaces at Four Seasons Sunrooms since before motorized pergolas were even a thing. We’ve seen the industry evolve, and we’ve stayed ahead of it.
We’re not new to Southside Place or the Houston area. We understand what Texas weather does to outdoor structures. We know that your home is likely worth over a million dollars, and you’re not looking for the cheapest option—you’re looking for the right one.
Our team handles everything from design to installation. We’re licensed, insured, and we’ve built our reputation on doing what we say we’ll do. No surprises, no runarounds.
When you work with us, you’re getting people who’ve done this thousands of times and know how to handle the details that matter.
First, we come to your property and assess your outdoor space. We look at sun patterns, existing structures, how you actually use the area, and what you’re trying to accomplish. This isn’t a sales pitch—it’s a real conversation about what works and what doesn’t.
Next, we design a system that fits your home. You’ll see exactly what it looks like, how it operates, and what features make sense for your situation. Want weather sensors that auto-close when rain starts? Done. Prefer manual control via remote? That works too.
Once you approve the design, we handle permitting and scheduling. Our installation team shows up on time, builds the structure with aircraft-grade aluminum, integrates the motorized components, and tests everything before we leave.
After installation, we walk you through the controls. You’ll know how to operate the system, what to expect from it, and how to reach us if anything comes up. Then you start using it the same day.
Ready to get started?
Every automated retractable pergola we install uses powder-coated aluminum that won’t rust, warp, or fade under the Texas sun. The motorized louvers adjust from fully open to fully closed, giving you precise control over shade and ventilation.
You get a remote control and wall switch as standard. If you want smart home integration, we can connect the system to your existing setup so you can control it from your phone or through voice commands.
Weather sensing is optional but worth considering in Southside Place. The system monitors wind speed and rain, automatically closing when conditions get rough and reopening when it’s safe. You don’t have to be home or even think about it.
We also include integrated drainage, so rainwater flows off the structure instead of pooling. And because we’re in Houston, we build everything to handle high winds and heavy storms. This isn’t a decorative add-on—it’s engineered to perform when weather gets serious.
Financing is available up to $125,000 if you’d rather spread the cost. We’ll walk you through options that make sense for your budget.
Pricing depends on size, features, and how complex the installation is. A standard motorized pergola for a typical patio runs between $15,000 and $35,000. If you add smart home integration, weather sensors, or custom lighting, that number goes up.
Southside Place homes often have larger outdoor spaces and higher-end finishes, so most projects here land in the $25,000 to $45,000 range. That includes design, permitting, installation, and all the motorized components.
We don’t give quotes over the phone because every property is different. We’d rather come out, see your space, and give you an accurate number based on what you actually need. No pressure, no gimmicks—just a real conversation about cost and options.
Yes. We build these systems specifically for Texas conditions. The aluminum frame is engineered to handle high winds, and the louvers lock into place when closed, creating a solid barrier against rain and debris.
If you add weather sensors, the system will automatically close when wind speeds hit a certain threshold or when rain is detected. That means even if you’re not home, the pergola protects itself and your patio furniture.
We’ve installed hundreds of these in the Houston area, and they hold up through storm season, summer heat, and everything in between. The powder coating doesn’t fade or crack under UV exposure, and the motorized components are sealed to prevent water damage. This isn’t something you’ll need to replace in five years—it’s built to last decades.
Most installations take two to five days, depending on the size of the structure and site conditions. We’re not talking about weeks of construction disrupting your routine.
Day one usually involves setting the posts and building the frame. Day two is when we install the motorized louvers, wire the controls, and integrate any smart features you’ve chosen. If your project is larger or includes custom elements like built-in lighting or speakers, it might stretch into day three or four.
We schedule everything upfront so you know exactly when we’ll be there. Our crew shows up on time, works efficiently, and cleans up at the end of each day. Once we’re done, the system is ready to use immediately—no waiting period, no curing time.
Yes, you’ll need a permit. Southside Place has specific building codes, and any permanent outdoor structure requires approval before construction starts.
The good news is we handle all of that for you. We submit the plans, work with the city to get everything approved, and make sure the installation meets local requirements. You don’t have to deal with paperwork or follow up with inspectors.
Permitting usually adds one to two weeks to the timeline before we start building, but it’s not something you need to worry about. We’ve done this process dozens of times in Southside Place and know exactly what the city requires. It’s built into our process from the beginning.
Almost none. The aluminum doesn’t need painting, staining, or sealing like wood does. A quick rinse with a hose a couple times a year keeps it looking clean.
The motorized components are sealed and built to run for years without service. If you have weather sensors, you might need to wipe them down occasionally to keep them accurate, but that’s about it.
We do recommend an annual check of the motor and electrical connections, especially if you use the system daily. Most clients handle that themselves, but we’re available if you’d rather have us take a look. The system is designed to be low-maintenance because we know you didn’t buy it to create more work for yourself.
Yes. If you want smart home integration, we can connect your motorized pergola to systems like Google Home, Alexa, or Apple HomeKit. That lets you open or close the louvers with voice commands or through an app on your phone.
You can also set schedules—like automatically closing the pergola during the hottest part of the day or opening it in the morning when you have your coffee outside. Some clients tie it into their home automation so the pergola responds to temperature changes or weather forecasts.
If smart integration isn’t your thing, the system works perfectly fine with just the remote control and wall switch. You don’t need the tech features for it to function well. But if you’re already running a smart home, adding the pergola to your setup is straightforward and gives you one more thing you can control without getting up.
